I realized my 10-year reunion is only a year away... Mountain Pointe High School Alumni. So many people have posted short summaries of what they've been doing since high school. Let's see, what have I been doing?...
Assessing the Past
Assessing our past can help us plan our future. Following is a list of my failures and successes since high school, including my immediate family's events that have impacted my life in 1 way or another.
Since High School (1997) I Have...
- Attended Arizona State University for 3 years
- Was Vice President of the triathlon club the 1st year of college, President and Webmaster the 2nd and 3rd years. Also helped found the college's historical preservation club
- Founded the Collegiate Triathlon Association which evolved into the College Multisport Association. The organization ran successfully for 5 years before its responsibilities were assimilated by USA Triathlon
- Trained for 6 months under Coach Easton for Triathlon in the Olympics 2004 in Greece, but discovered that my heart could never be 100% focused on the gold
- Experienced a horrible bicycling crash (no helmet at 50 MPH) while reviewing the course for Collegiate Triathlon Nationals. See a Photo (Mine are at the top: "Close Shave" and "Eye for an eye")
- Got expelled from college for low grades while selfishly focusing all of my attention on involvement with clubs and organizations
- Worked for Intel on a 6 month contract
- Experienced a horrible rollerblading accident training for the elite New Times 10K that broke my jaw and shattered a few teeth
- Opened the e-doors to Internet Information Architects, LLC., an internet solutions company that had several small clients for 2 years before closing the doors to focus on full-time work
- Worked as a contractor for ZTMC, one of the internet's top marketing firms for nearly 3.5 years
- Began working for The Alexander Group, Inc., a sales and marketing management consulting firm, in 2000 and have continued with them to this day
- Developed unique solutions for AGI to:
- Communicate traditional company sales growth in an exciting, efficient, new way that enables executives to make strategic decisions for targeted growth
- Survey a company's global sales force and report how employees are spending their time to help management make effective decisions that support the employee's focus on selling activities
- Develop an automated process for collecting information about a company's sales compensation plans and incumbent performance data around the globe, centralizing them, and then reporting company-wide summaries.
- Married my love Wendy in May 2004 and inherited a teenage step-son Troy (now 17 years old)
- Purchased and sold a 1-acre property and 1,800 sq. ft. modular home in Desert Hills, AZ (near Cave Creek)
- Enjoyed being an uncle
- Watched both of my sisters get married and start families of their own
- Enjoyed watching my sister's small line of unique, totally organic skin care products blossom into a thriving small business
- Purchased an incredible 2,600 sq. ft., 2-story house in Anthem, AZ – the community ammenities are wonderful — I emphasize the house after living in a modular :)
- Provided guardianship over an abandoned teenage girl for 5 months
- Watched my parents renovate their house in Ahwatukee, AZ that I knew since I was 1-year old with incredible additions
- Continued singing in the ProMusica Arizona Chorale & Orchestra, including their smaller Madrigals group
- Begun to learn the guitar
- Begun acting in Startlight Production's "Lend Me a Tenor"
- Currently in the process of adopting a pre-teen boy from Arizona DES
