Youth Gets Old

You know, if I have to listen to one more person question my age by 10 years!!! This year, 2006, I am 27 years old. People usually assume 20-24. Last year I was stopped by a rent-a-cop with my step son (now 17) who was enforcing curfew!!! I was asked only a week ago if I could fill-in for a high-school student to play the part of "Rolphe" in their upcoming theatre production Sound of Music!Tot with building blocks.

When picking up a young man we were considering adopting, his friends at the group home wondered, "who is the dad?" between my step-son and I. The stories go on... I'll be the first to smile when I'm 40 looking 30, but the same sequence can definately get old quickly. I wonder how I'd do as a once famous child actor... "Hey! Aren't you that kid from that show? You know... the one where you... you know... 'Woah!' Can you do it? 'Woah!'"

An Aside to Age

As an aside to my complaints, I can't help but post the gene that seems to recycle itself in every generation... the "I can't wait to be older" gene in every youth that comes out at good times and bad and all of the choices that go along with it. Most of us just can't wait to be in that next stage of life. Surely the grass is greener. "Right now is all I have to enjoy and all I can do right now is plan for the things to come and hope my plans have a positive effect on the outcome."

Yeah, I always think of you as about 13 years old. Sorry, that's when I spent the most time with you!....Thus, the Napoleon Dynamite doll...It brought back such lovely memories :) Nice goin' on the running splits! I just started running again and am doing a smoking 10 minute mile. Keep up the good work!
